Thai Mary
Spring 2004
By: Michelle P. E. Hunt and Laura Panter

Thai basil is the virtually unknown cousin of the basil found at most grocery stores, and its incredible aroma and depth of flavour add the distinct taste to much Thai cooking. The addition of this wondrous herb to a classic Bloody Mary will delight and intrigue guests.

1. Rim a glass with fresh lemon and sea salt. Fill the glass with ice and add 1 1/2 oz vodka. Add a dash of tabasco, fresh ground black pepper (to taste) and the juice of fresh lemon.

2. Finely mince a Thai basil leaf, add and stir. Top with tomato juice and stir again.

3. Garnish with a lemon wedge and a Thai basil leaf.
