Following a successful career in marketing and
communications, Caroline Ishii turned to her lifelong love of
food, people and wellness to launch a new career. She believes
in a holistic approach to wellness. She is also concerned by
the alarming rate with which certain illnesses are increasing,
particularly in children.
Caroline learned traditional Japanese cooking from her mother
and received a formal education at the Natural Gourmet Institute
for Health and Culinary Arts in New York City.
Having trained with some of the best natural foods chefs
in North America and Japan, Caroline returned to Ottawa to
open ZenKitchen in the spring of 2007.
With ZenKitchen, Caroline promotes mindful,
healthful cooking and eating from farm to
table, using local and sustainable produce, and
whole foods free from chemicals, additives,
and genetically modified ingredients. She
incorporates her love of different cultures and
taste memories from her travels in her cooking, to create
gourmet vegetarian and vegan cuisine that is beautiful,
flavourful and satisfying. ZenKitchen offers small event catering
and a monthly gourmet vegan dinner at Ottawa’s historic
Chelsea Club.
