The LCBO estimates that smuggled liquor and illegally manufactured wine represented over $661 million – or more than seven per cent of the $9-billion Ontario beverage alcohol market – in 2006-2007.

Not to mention the other costs related to illegal alcohol: health risks, job loss to legitimate industry and government revenue losses, which means less money to pay for social and capital programs that benefit all citizens.
